Therapy for Kids
Childhood isn’t always easy. Kids need support, too. Whether it’s learning how to manage ADHD or anxiety, improving self-esteem and social interactions, or just having a safe space to talk about life, school and family issues - we have a diverse team of professionals who work with children and teens.
In addition, for our youngest clients, play therapy is a structured, theoretically-based approach to therapy that builds on the normal communicative and learning processes of children. Play therapists strategically utilize play therapy to help children express what is troubling them when they do not have the verbal language to express their thoughts and feelings. {source: Association for Play Therapy}

No. We are happy to help match your child with a therapist that is right for you when it coms to insurance, experience, therapy modalities and availability. Contact us and we’ll be happy to provide you with some options. We also offer a 15 minute free phone consultation with a therapist of your choice.

For the first session, it may be encouraged to have a parent attend with a child. However, unless directed by the therapist, it should be a safe space for the child to speak with the therapist without a parent being present. You are welcome to stay in the lobby area. Family therapy is suggested for families that want to have therapy together as a group.

Every therapist on staff works differently, but most use an eclectic approach (unless otherwise requested by a client). We use different modalities based on a client’s symptoms and presenting problems/issues. To treat trauma, we may use EMDR, cognitive processing therapy, somatic therapy, or polyvagal theory approaches. To treat anxiety or depression, we may use art therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, or one of many others.
If you have a request about the type of therapy you’d like to engage in with your therapist, please feel free to discuss it with them, ask questions about how/if they use it, and make requests about ways you’d like to engage in therapy!

Yes! We are in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans, Cigna, and United Healthcare/Optum. We frequently work with other insurances as out-of-network providers (and are happy to answer specific questions on that on an individual basis). Sessions are billed to your insurance company and, based on your benefits, you may owe money towards your session if you have a copay/coinsurance or a deductible to meet. This is dependent on your specific plan. Check here for more info on insurance.
We highly encourage you to call your insurance company to verify that we’re in-network and find out what your copay or deductible might be! We’re happy to answer questions about how to do this.

We understand that life happens and things come up that may cause you to miss an appointment. However, we ask that all of our clients cancel or reschedule appointments at least 48 hours in advance. If you are not able to do this, we will charge our full session fee of $135.00. Insurance and sliding scale fees are not applicable to the late cancellation fee.
