Individual Therapy

What is individual therapy?

Individual therapy, known as psychotherapy or counseling, is an empowering journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. During one-on-one sessions, you'll work on exploring the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors that are guiding you and find ways to meaningfully and permanently start to shift beliefs and behaviors that are no longer serving you (or never served you). All of our therapists provide individual therapy services.

Do you use specific modalities or types of therapies?

Every therapist on staff works differently, but most use an eclectic approach (unless otherwise requested by a client). We use different modalities based on a client’s symptoms and presenting problems/issues. To treat trauma, we may use EMDR, cognitive processing therapy, somatic experiencing, or polyvagal theory approaches. To treat anxiety or depression, we may use art therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, or one of many others. If you have a request about the type of therapy you’d like to engage in with your therapist, please feel free to discuss it with them, ask questions about how/if they use it, and make requests about ways you’d like to engage in therapy! This is your treatment and your process! We’re here to help you.

Can I use insurance for sessions?

Yes! We are in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans, Cigna, and United Healthcare/Optum. We frequently work with other insurances as out-of-network providers (and are happy to answer specific questions on that on an individual basis). Sessions are billed to your insurance company and, based on your benefits, you may owe money towards your session if you have a copay/coinsurance or a deductible to meet. This is dependent on your specific plan.

We highly encourage you to call your insurance company to verify that we’re in-network and find out what your copay or deductible might be! We’re happy to answer questions about how to do this.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens and things come up that may cause you to miss an appointment. However, we ask that all of our clients cancel or reschedule appointments at least 24-48 hours in advance. If you are not able to do this, we will charge our full session fee of $130.00. Insurance and sliding scale fees are not applicable to the late cancellation fee.
