Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, ADHD & Mood Specialist
Jenny Schermerhorn
MA, LCPC
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan. I am experienced in working with kids, teens, and adults and am passionate about helping my clients find relief, support, and healing through therapy. I have a warm and empathetic style and feel my strengths lie in helping clients gain a sense of hope and empowerment, as well as a greater understanding of themselves.
As an ADHD and Mood Specialist,I practice from a neuro-affirming lens. I enjoy working with people who are neurodivergent, or experiencing mood or impulse control disorders such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Depression. Together we can focus on emotional regulation and impulse control, and improve motivation and social skills. I take an eclectic approach and honor individuality, always tailoring treatment to a client’s specific needs, goals and values.
I incorporate DBT and CBT for more concrete strategies and tools as well. I also have training in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, EFT, Gottman, and Exposure Response Prevention Therapy.
My therapy career has included time working in a variety of settings, including residential and intensive outpatient programs, community mental health organizations, and substance abuse treatment centers. As a result, I use an integrative approach with my clients, specifically pulling from client-centered and strengths-based approaches.
