Licensed Social Worker and Anxiety Specialist

Mehrose Fidai

MSW, LSW

I understand the importance of cultural humility and diverse care and am passionate about creating a safe space for my clients to heal. My personal lived experience as 1.5 generation Pakistani American and my professional experiences allow me to view mental healthcare in a different light. I come from a non-judgmental place, understand complex cultural issues, and aim to honor your individuality and partner with you to create a unique treatment plan that suits your needs.

I spent eight years working in both inpatient and outpatient settings before transitioning to private practice and am passionate about working with clients dealing with issues related to OCD, anxiety, panic disorder, eating disorders, and complex trauma. With a warm, empathic, and values-based approach, I aim to establish a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship with you. My specialization lies in unraveling the roots of unhelpful patterns, addressing their symptoms, working with barriers, and guiding clients toward meaningful change. I draw from various therapeutic methodologies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Diversity and inclusivity are at the core of my practice and I am LGBTQIA+ allied. I also have an interest in working with clients with a variety of spiritual perspectives and experiences. I am committed to giving my clients space to explore spirituality and creativity on the path to personal growth and self-discovery.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented type of talk therapy that can help manage mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, and emotional concerns, such as coping with grief or stress.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps you move beyond negative thoughts and feelings in a meaningful way by accepting that your thoughts and emotions are an appropriate response to certain situations and committing to making changes in your life that match your values.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy, specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely.

  • Used commonly as a treatment for OCD, the exposure component of ERP refers to practicing confronting the thoughts, images, objects, and situations that make you anxious and/or provoke your obsessions.
