Licensed Professional Counselor and Trauma Therapist
Kasia Tomanek
MA, LPC, EMDR
I began my career in the corporate world, but I quickly realized that my real passion was for helping others find authenticity and healing. I went back to school to get my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have been working as a therapist ever since.
I spent the beginning of my career as a counselor working with couples and individuals impacted by domestic violence. I have a deep understanding of issues in relationships and enjoy helping clients find healthier ways to communicate with others and cope with their emotions. I enjoy working with clients across the lifespan and specialize in working with clients presenting with symptoms of depression, anxiety, attachment and relationship issues, borderline personality disorder, and complex trauma.
As a therapist, I am committed to growing and learning. I stay up-to-date on new research in the therapy world and work to integrate new information into treatment with clients. I strive to provide my clients with the best care possible and use a holistic approach that addresses all aspects of your life.
At the core of my work, I am client-centered and believe in creating a completely non-judgmental space where you can be heard. I frequently use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, EMDR, inner child exploration, attachment theory, and psychodynamic approaches in my work with clients. However, we all seek therapy for different reasons and a one size fits all approach never works. I like to pull from various modalities and use techniques that make sense to you. Therapy should be a collaborative process and we will work together in setting goals together and making sure this process is catered to your needs.
I provide culturally-sensitive therapy and am passionate about working with clients who have different backgrounds and life experiences than myself.
